Has anybody else noticed that LeBron’s hair is getting longer than usual lately? If you’ve noticed, have you wondered why LeBron’s hair is approaching it’s longest length since his high school days? Has LeBron’s barber taken a vacation or is there something bigger at work here?
The answer to this burning question was given to us on Saturday night. In the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game LeBron’s headband was knocked off his head. LeBron freaked out and was visibly upset on the court. The King played for approximately two and a half minutes without his crown.
The average fan reaction went something like this…LeBron’s headband just fell off. He looks weird without a headband. Then as they watched LeBron hit Jamario Moon with a backdoor pass for a dunk they forgot about LeBron’s lack of a headband. I admit I had the same reaction the first time I watched the game.
However, when I watched more closely I saw the truth. LeBron plays better without his headband. LeBron had two points and one assist during the two and a half minutes that his headband was missing. If you multiply those numbers by his average minutes per game he would be averaging 30.3 points and 15 assists per game. Suddenly it all made sense.
LeBron dribbled up court hanging his head as felt his secret was being exposed. His plan for the 2010 playoffs was being unveiled 14 games into the season against Philadelphia. This couldn’t be happening. Although LeBron limited his shots and touches during his headbandless time he shot 100% from the floor. LeBron also passed on a rebound, letting a teammate grab the board to keep his numbers from being too inflated, just in case someone was watching too closely. (Sorry Bron I don’t miss much)
Are you still wondering what LeBron has planned? It seems that LeBron is growing his hair out so it will look better without a headband. He will struggle through the rugged “in between” stage and when playoff time rolls around his hair will have outgrown the need for a headband. He will unleash his full potential, the headband will no longer hold him back. Averaging a triple double with his new mini fro, LeBron will be unstoppable.

It might also be a vanity thing. His hairline is obviously receding, and at only 24, he might want to hide it. Hurts the whole young and virile image.
