9th Day of Cleveland - Boobie Gibson Song - “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja Boy Inspiration - I always thought this song would be perfect for Boobie, then I heard the line, “When I was nine years old, I put it in my head…” and I knew this was the one.
Boobie is having a great year for the Cavs, bouncing back from his injury riddled 2008-2009 season. I’ve always enjoyed watching Boobie play because he’s never afraid to take a big shot and he always looks like he’s having fun on the court. He definitely leads the Cavs in SWAG!!!
10th Day of Cleveland - Anthony Parker Song - XV’s “Don’t You Agree” from his 40 Days and 40 Nights Mixtape Inspiration - XV is a newer artist (at least main stream, he’s been doing it for a long time, people are just now discovering him) and Parker is a new player to the Cavs. This song is laid back like Parker, and I think it fits, don’t you agree?
Sorry for the delay in getting this day posted. Last night YouTube rejected our 11th Day of Cleveland citing a copyright issue with Home Box Office. I don’t understand why HBO thought they had rights to the video, but oh well. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for the last nine days of Cleveland!
11th Day of Cleveland - Zydrunas Ilgauskas Song - Gang Starr “Work” Inspiration - Gang Starr seemed like a good fit because of their longevity and their importance to hip-hop.
The 11th Day of Cleveland had to belong to Big Z. It only makes sense that his day would be his jersey number. I had another song picked out for Z’s video, but I went with a last minute change. This song just made more sense with everything Z has accomplished in his career. Even after he retires he will stay on ti-dop!
12th Day of Cleveland - Team Highlights Song - “Boys Are Back in Town” Inspiration - Something about this song fits well with the Cavs fun loving approach to the game. Plus, I’ll take any chance I have to poke fun at Boozer!
On The Twelfth Day of Cleveland NoYork gave to you a video with all your favorite Cavs. It was certainly a long off season, the Cavs even had a rocky start to the 2009-2010 campaign, but don’t fear The Boys Are Back in Town.
Make sure to check back tomorrow for the 11th Day of Cleveland…
I would like to thank Joakim Noah for being so upset with LeBron’s dance moves. Without him I would have never thought to make this video. This one’s for you Joakim!
Who says Ron Artest is the only one that can honor Michael this season?
There’s been a couple of instances lately where LeBron has done or said something semi-controversial. Here’s my take on these instances…
Dancing in front of Joakim Noah…
I don’t think LeBron’s dance was aimed at Noah or The Bulls. I understand that Noah was frustrated but he overreacted. Besides Noah spent his career at Florida dancing around like a loon. In my mind he will always be a fake Andy Varejao.
Women won’t be in the NBA in 10 years…
I agree with this one completely. A great example is Lisa Leslie who had an outstanding career in the WNBA. Leslie is 6′5″ and weighs 170 pounds. At this height and weight she would be a guard in the NBA (she was a center in the WNBA). I don’t see any way she could guard an NBA wing. The NBA player could post her up because of her light weight or drive around her for an easy lay up due to her lack of speed on the wing. There is no way a female will play in the NBA in the next ten years.
Calling out Coach Brown for the Z fiasco…
Once again LeBron showed his loyalty to his teammates by calling out Coach Brown for not playing Z on his record breaking night. LeBron suggested starting Z and taking him out after a few minutes on the court. LeBron went on to say, “It’s a sensitive subject. I’m not one to raise havoc or raise fire into the locker room or our team. But, for me, I speak the truth. I stand behind Z and I feel like Z not playing wasn’t the right thing. As a friend of his, I was very upset, and I know he was also.” Well said LeBron and thanks for seeing what Coach Brown lost sight of, which brings us to my next point.
LeBron could coach in the NBA right now…
Those are Shaq’s words describing LeBron’s basketball IQ. Shaq has played for Phil Jackson and Pat Riley, so he’s been around some great coaches. Let’s just say for instance LeBron pulled a Bill Russell and started coaching the Cavs while he was still playing. Would he be able to draw up the genius play where he dribbles the clock down to 5 seconds and takes a fade away three at the end of the game? Yes. Would he be able to teach players and help them develop, but still be able to step up and scold them when they were out of line? Yes, he does this already. BUT the ultimate question, could LeBron be a good enough coach to keep himself in Cleveland?
Here are the Cavaliers plays of the week from their games against Detroit, Dallas, and Charlotte. The song is called In My Bag by Usher and T.I. More vids on the way…
Two recent articles have surfaced with reasons for LeBron to play in Houston and LA. The Houston article is basically a plea with LeBron to consider the Rockets as his future home. The Clippers article sounds a lot like the rationale that the Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, has used for months now.
I don’t have a problem with an article that makes a case for LeBron leaving the Cavs in seven months, but an article that basically begs him to play for your team is a bit much. Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle writes, “You’d love it here, and you don’t have to take my word for it. Ask anyone who has played here. It’s one of the NBA cities others are measured by. Players love it here.”
Justice goes on to discuss the positive side of playing for Houston, pointing out that the Rockets are a team built on toughness, unselfishness, and smarts. I guess that Justice is just trying to improve his own situation, but I don’t buy LeBron leaving for Houston.
If LeBron leaves Cleveland it will be for Miami, New York, New Jersey, or LA. I can’t see him going anywhere besides those four teams, and yes I do mean the LA Clippers. Houston offers the same supporting cast as many other NBA teams. LeBron already plays with an unselfish team in a classy organization. Plus, playing with Yao Ming is too risky, as he’s had a string of bad luck injuries lately. One thing is for sure, I’ve never seen more writers asking a player to come to their city.
I can’t remember a situation where there’s been even half as much speculation about an athlete’s free agency as there has been already with LeBron. If you’re already getting tired of hearing about LeBron’s future teams, it’s only the beginning. As July 1st approaches the intensity of the LeBron Lottery will only increase. For now let’s be thankful that New York and New Jersey are off to such horrible starts this season.
The showdown between LeBron James and Brandon Jennings didn’t live up to the hype, but it was still fun to watch. Despite a terrible second quarter by the Bucks, Jennings finished with a game high 24 points. Jennings got to the rim with ease and proved to be very elusive once he got into the paint.
LeBron didn’t match Jennings’ scoring output, but Jennings didn’t put up 50 points either. LeBron finished the game with 14 points and 10 assists as the Cavs won 101-86. Delonte West led the Cavaliers with 21 points on 6 of 9 shooting.
Although neither superstar set the court ablaze on Sunday afternoon, the Cavs came away with another victory and a solid performance from a variety of players. I was hoping to see LeBron and Jennings go head to head for at least 30 points each, but I’ll take a road victory any day of the week!
